Little big-headed boy had his nine month checkup today! I’m proud to report his head is in the 98th percentile. His height is making progress, too. At 29 and three-quarter inches, he’s in the 86th percentile. Unfortunately, Momma and Daddy need to feed the little boy. He’s 20 pounds, and only in the 34th percentile of weight. Although I don’t think I want him in the 99th percentile, we do have room for improvement. I think some of his fussiness is due in part to him being hungry. He really likes real food. We should give him more of it. He was getting one full meal of fruit or veggies. He should be getting three. A big problem is that we don’t sit down to three meals a day. Tom and I might eat one meal. And that’s got to change. Hopefully, Bruce will force us to do better.
I guess if one in three kids is obese, then we want him at about 67%. I don’t know. I know he’s skinny. I’m so, so scared that he’ll become obese. It’s not a fun life when you are the fat kid. Of course I don’t want to swing too far the other way and starve him to death, either. It seems very simple, but you can look at me and tell that I don’t know much about a balanced, healthy diet. The doctor didn’t seem too concerned. He just said we should start thinking of the milk as something to drink with dinner, not dinner itself.
Bruce had watermelon and curried sweet potatoes this morning with his puffs. I’m happy to report that he didn’t choke.
He’s getting so big.
